The Lagos State Government has paid an additional N349million as compensation to another thirteen property owners that are affected by the expansion of Lagos/Badagry Expressway into a 10- lane carriage. In a statement by the Lagos State Lands Bureau, the beneficiaries include Jordan Hospital Ltd, Mekios Group Ltd, B.Chinedu Moore&Associates, Allied Bond Standard Co.Ltd, Surrey Senco Enterprises and Best Stores Ltd. Others include: A.Awaye MotorsLtd, Mrs Taiwo. T.Fashola, E.Ekeeson Bros.Nig.Ltd, Sunny Motors Ltd, Jacob Odewunmi & Sons and Sapid Agencies Ltd.
 
It would be recalled that about N1.5billion has been paid previously as compensation to landed properties that were affected by developmental activities in the state. According to the Statement “In view of the fact that some parcel of Lands were also acquired for community development purposes Governor Babatunde Fashola’s administration still consider it imperative to pay compensation to those affected”. “The Lands acquired by Government are being utilized in pursuit of transforming Lagos into a model mega city of which Nigerians will be proud”, the statement added.

 

Meanwhile sixteen villages in the state also benefited in the State Government, recently Excision programme. The exercise which is aimed at preventing fraudulent sale of Government lands as well as the prolonged disputes which are likely to arise on land transactions in the State had beneficiaries like Otasanya Perisha family and Elepe Oniyewa family of both in Ikorodu.

Others are Tiye, Ilege, Idasho, Magbon Segun, Imobido, Okunraye, Imosa, Eleko Alasia, Idotun, Itoke, Imopa, Lekuru, Oke Segun and Olomowewe Villages in Ibeju Lekki Local Government areas of the State.
