The first phase of the N4 billion civil servants housing estate being embarked upon by Diamond Group Nigeria Limited on behalf of Imo State government along Owerri Port Harcourt road in Imo state will be ready before the end of the year.
This was disclosed by the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of Diamond Group, Engineer Ken Obiorah Nwabuoku who said the first 1,000 units would be ready before one year. According to him, the memorandum of understanding has already been signed between his company and the Imo state government, stressing that the development would help to ensure that good quality shelter would be available to the employees of state government.
Nwabuoku assured that he would deliver high quality buildings in the estate after which it would be sold on mortgage basis to beneficiaries at costs ranging between N2million and N4million per unit. The Diamond Group boss said that the Imo State government was expected to provide infrastructure and land while they build the units and sell in accordance with the Mortgage laws of the country which puts a ceiling of five million for houses meant for civil servants. He also said there would be consistent construction for four years by which time the programme of housing most civil servants in the state would have been achieved.
